poler
Raft staff wielder
A poler is someone who propels a boat or raft using a pole, pushing against the riverbed or lake bottom to move through shallow water.
The term also applies to anyone who uses a pole as a primary tool in their work, such as someone harvesting fruit with a long pole or a pole vaulter in athletics.
In more technical contexts, poler can refer to a draft animal harnessed to the pole of a wagon or carriage, positioned closest to the vehicle.
