plum wine

Sweet stone-fruit liquor

Plum wine is a sweet alcoholic beverage made by steeping plums in alcohol, most associated with Japanese cuisine where it's called umeshu.

The base is typically ume, a fruit closer to apricot than Western plums.

It's served chilled, on the rocks, or mixed with soda: We ordered plum wine with our sushi.
