pleached
Hedges trained together
Pleached describes trees or shrubs whose branches have been interwoven to form a hedge, screen, or arbor.
The technique involves training young branches along a framework and weaving them together as they grow: a pleached lime walk, pleached hornbeams lining the garden path.
The effect is a living wall or canopy with a formal, architectural quality.
