photo opportunity
Staged media shot
A photo opportunity is a planned occasion for taking photographs of a public figure, designed to generate favorable media coverage.
Politicians stage photo opportunities to appear relatable or decisive: The candidate visited the factory floor for a photo opportunity.
Often shortened to photo op.
The term can be dismissive, implying the event exists only for the cameras rather than serving any substantive purpose.
