phonebook

Alphabetical contact volume

A phonebook is a directory listing names, addresses, and telephone numbers, traditionally published as a thick paper volume distributed to households.

The white pages listed residential numbers alphabetically by surname; the yellow pages organized businesses by category.

Once ubiquitous, phonebooks have largely been replaced by online search: Nobody uses a phonebook anymore.
