look up

Search for information

Look up has two main meanings.

One is to search for and find information, especially in a reference source: I had to look up the word in the dictionary.

The other is to improve or become better: Things are finally looking up for us.

If you look someone up, you contact or visit them after a period of not being in touch: Look me up next time you're in town.
