Ex-directory is British English for an unlisted telephone number—one deliberately omitted from public directories to protect privacy: After the scandal, she went ex-directory.
The American equivalent is "unlisted." It can describe the number itself or the person who has one: He's ex-directory, so you won't find him in the phone book.
