paramecia
Freshwater microscopic organisms
Paramecia is the plural of paramecium, a single-celled freshwater organism visible under a microscope.
Shaped like a slipper, paramecia are covered in tiny hair-like cilia that propel them through water.
They're common subjects in biology classes: We watched paramecia under the microscope.
