papier mache
Molded paper pulp
Papier mâché is a craft material made from paper pulp or strips mixed with paste, molded while wet and hardened when dry.
The French term means "chewed paper." It's used for masks, piñatas, sculptures, and school projects: The children made papier mâché volcanoes.
The material is lightweight but surprisingly sturdy once dried.
