finger painting
Hands-on preschool art
Finger painting is a technique of applying paint directly with the fingers and hands rather than with brushes.
It's associated with young children and early art education, where the tactile experience matters more than the finished product: The kindergartners did finger painting this morning.
The term can describe the activity or the artwork produced.
