overeating
Consuming too much
Overeating is eating more than your body needs or more than is healthy.
It can be occasional—I always overeat at Thanksgiving—or habitual, potentially leading to weight gain and health problems.
The term implies excess rather than simply eating a lot: a marathon runner loading up on carbohydrates isn't overeating, but someone stress-eating a whole pizza might be.
