twitchers
Obsessive avian spotters
Twitchers are birdwatchers, specifically the obsessive kind who travel long distances to spot rare species and add them to their life lists.
The term is primarily British and slightly mocking—it suggests the nervous excitement of someone who might twitch at any flutter in the bushes: The twitchers descended on the coast after reports of a vagrant albatross.
