non-whites

People of color

Non-whites is a dated or clinical term for people who are not white or of European descent—essentially, everyone else.

The term defines a vast and diverse majority of humanity by what they are not, centering whiteness as the default.

It appears in demographic data, historical documents, and discussions of racial discrimination: The policy excluded non-whites from membership.

Most contemporary usage prefers specific group names or "people of color."
