non-motile
Lacking locomotion ability
Non-motile describes organisms or cells that cannot move on their own.
The term appears in biology to distinguish between organisms that can propel themselves and those that cannot: non-motile bacteria, non-motile sperm.
Plants are non-motile; most animals are not.
The hyphen is standard but sometimes dropped.
