neuroplastic

Mentally reshaping itself

Neuroplastic describes the brain's capacity to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections.

The term combines *neuro-* (relating to nerves or the nervous system) with *plastic* (capable of being molded or shaped).

Neuroplastic changes occur throughout life, enabling recovery from injury, adaptation to new experiences, and learning: Neuroplastic responses allow stroke patients to regain function as healthy brain regions compensate for damaged ones.
