homeostatic
Maintaining internal equilibrium
Homeostatic describes processes or mechanisms that maintain stability within a system.
The term comes from biology, where homeostatic regulation keeps body temperature, blood pressure, and other variables within narrow ranges: The homeostatic response to cold is shivering.
The concept extends to any self-regulating system: homeostatic feedback loops in economics.
