neurointerface

Mind-machine link

A neurointerface is a device that creates a direct communication pathway between the brain and an external system, typically a computer.

Sensors detect neural activity and translate it into commands, allowing users to control prosthetics, type text, or operate software through thought alone: The paralyzed patient used a neurointerface to move a robotic arm.

Also called brain-computer interface or brain-machine interface.
