nasalization

Sound through nose

Nasalization is the pronunciation of a sound with air flowing through the nose as well as the mouth.

In French, vowels before certain consonants become nasalized: bon, vin.

English speakers nasalize vowels adjacent to nasal consonants like m and n, though we rarely notice it.
