glottal

From the voicebox

Glottal describes sounds produced at the glottis—the opening between the vocal cords in the throat.

The glottal stop, heard in the middle of "uh-oh," occurs when the glottis closes briefly then releases.

In some British dialects, glottal stops replace the t sound: "bottle" becomes "bo'le."
