lowlander
Plains region inhabitant
A lowlander is someone who lives in or comes from low-lying terrain, as opposed to mountainous or hilly regions.
The term often appears in contrast to highlander: The lowlanders viewed the mountain folk with suspicion.
In Scottish contexts, it specifically refers to inhabitants of the Scottish Lowlands, the flatter southern and eastern regions distinct from the Highlands.
