money order
Prepaid payment document
A money order is a prepaid certificate guaranteeing payment of a specified amount, functioning like a check but more secure since the funds are already collected.
Purchasable at post offices, banks, and retail stores, money orders are commonly used when a personal check won't be accepted or when the sender lacks a bank account: I paid my rent with a money order.
