miter cut
Diagonal frame cut
A miter cut is an angled cut across the width of a piece of wood or other material, typically at 45 degrees, used to join two pieces at a corner.
Picture frames and door trim use miter cuts to create clean 90-degree corners where pieces meet: The carpenter made precise miter cuts for the crown molding.
Also spelled mitre cut in British English.
