mitred
Cut at forty-five
Mitred describes something cut or joined at a mitre—an angled joint where two pieces meet, typically at 45 degrees to form a 90-degree corner: mitred picture frames, mitred corners on the trim.
The term appears in woodworking, framing, and construction.
Separately, mitred can mean wearing a mitre, the ceremonial headpiece of a bishop: the mitred abbot.
Also spelled mitered.
