puppy mill
Mass dog breeding
A puppy mill is a commercial dog-breeding operation that prioritizes profit over animal welfare, typically housing dogs in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions with minimal veterinary care.
The term is pejorative, used by animal welfare advocates to distinguish mass-production breeders from responsible ones: That pet store gets its dogs from puppy mills.
Also called a puppy farm.
