megaplex

Giant theater complex

A megaplex is a very large movie theater complex, typically containing twelve or more screens under one roof.

The term emerged in the 1990s as theater chains built increasingly massive multiplexes to offer audiences more showtime options and amenities like stadium seating, IMAX screens, and concession areas.

The new megaplex downtown has twenty-four screens and a full bar.
