mantillas

Lace head coverings

Mantillas are lace or silk veils worn over the head and shoulders, traditionally by Spanish and Latin American women.

The mantilla drapes over a high comb and frames the face, worn especially for religious ceremonies and formal occasions: She wore a black mantilla to the funeral mass.

The singular is mantilla.
