A mailing list is a collection of names and addresses used for sending material to multiple recipients.
Originally postal, the term now usually refers to email lists where subscribers receive messages on a shared topic: Sign up for our mailing list to get updates.
Some mailing lists allow any member to post; others are one-way announcements.
