lip-syncing
Mouthing recorded vocals
Lip-syncing is moving your lips in synchronization with recorded audio—usually a song or dialogue—to create the illusion of live performance.
Performers lip-sync on stage when technical conditions make live singing impractical; actors lip-sync to dubbed dialogue.
Lip-sync battles have become entertainment in their own right: She absolutely killed it lip-syncing to Whitney Houston.
Also spelled lip-synching.
