A lima bean is a flat, kidney-shaped bean with a mild, slightly buttery flavor, eaten as a vegetable.
Lima beans come in two main varieties—large butter beans and smaller baby limas.
They're common in succotash and other American dishes: The casserole had corn and lima beans.
Children are notorious for disliking them.
