leukaemias
White cell malignancies
Leukaemias is the British spelling of leukemias, the plural of leukaemia.
These are cancers of blood-forming tissues, particularly bone marrow and the lymphatic system, characterized by the abnormal proliferation of white blood cells.
Different types are classified by how quickly they progress (acute or chronic) and which blood cells are affected.
The oncologist specializes in treating childhood leukaemias.
