kinetoscope

Early film device

A kinetoscope was an early motion picture device invented by Thomas Edison's laboratory in the 1890s.

Unlike later projectors, it was a peephole viewer—one person looked through an eyepiece to watch a short film loop.

The kinetoscope was a novelty attraction in arcades before projected cinema made it obsolete.
