Sodium aluminum silicate
Jadeite is one of two minerals called jade, the other being nephrite.
It is the rarer and more prized variety, harder and capable of more vivid colors—particularly the emerald green of "imperial jade" prized in Chinese decorative arts.
Most jade jewelry and carvings are jadeite: a jadeite bangle, jadeite beads.
