hypomelanosis
Lack of color
Hypomelanosis is a medical term for reduced pigmentation in the skin, resulting in patches lighter than surrounding areas.
The prefix hypo- indicates deficiency, so hypomelanosis literally means insufficient melanin production.
It appears in various conditions: hypomelanosis of Ito is a rare genetic disorder, while idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis produces small white spots, typically from sun exposure and aging.
