repigmentation

Skin tone returning

Repigmentation is the return of color to skin, hair, or other tissue that had lost its pigment.

The term appears most often in medical contexts—treating vitiligo, for example, where patches of skin lose melanin and therapy aims to restore it: The treatment produced significant repigmentation after six months.

The opposite of depigmentation.
