hyperplastic

Excessively cell-multiplying

Hyperplastic describes tissue that has undergone hyperplasia—abnormal increase in cell number causing enlargement.

The term appears in medical contexts: hyperplastic polyps, hyperplastic nodules.

Unlike cancerous growth, hyperplastic tissue consists of normal cells that have simply multiplied excessively, often in response to chronic irritation or hormonal stimulation.
