hypoplastic
Deficiently grown tissue
Hypoplastic describes tissue or an organ that is underdeveloped or smaller than normal due to an inadequate number of cells.
The term appears in medical contexts: hypoplastic left heart syndrome, hypoplastic lungs.
Hypoplasia is incomplete development, distinct from atrophy, where tissue shrinks after normal formation.
