hurdling

Track obstacle racing

Hurdling is the track-and-field event of running a course with hurdles—barriers that athletes must leap over at speed.

The term covers both the activity and the sport: She took up hurdling in high school.

By extension, hurdling can describe overcoming any series of obstacles: hurdling bureaucratic requirements.
