hurdlers
Barrier-leaping runners
Hurdlers are athletes who compete in hurdle races—track events requiring runners to leap over evenly spaced barriers.
The term applies to both sprinters running short hurdle distances and those in longer steeplechase events.
By extension, a hurdler is anyone who overcomes obstacles: She's a hurdler in life, never letting setbacks stop her.
