hot water heater
Plumbing system fixture
A hot water heater is an appliance that heats and stores water for domestic use—showers, dishwashing, laundry.
The phrase is technically redundant (you heat cold water, not hot), but hot water heater is the standard American term nonetheless.
Also called simply a water heater, or in British English, a boiler or immersion heater.
