heliocentric

Orbiting the sun

Heliocentric describes a model of the solar system with the sun at the center, around which the planets revolve.

The term emerged from the Copernican revolution that displaced Earth from the center of the universe.

The heliocentric model replaced the geocentric view that had dominated for centuries.

By extension, heliocentric can describe anything sun-centered: heliocentric orbit, heliocentric coordinates.
