heliocentricism
Planets orbit sun
Heliocentricism is the astronomical model placing the sun at the center of the solar system, with Earth and other planets orbiting around it.
The term describes both the scientific position and advocacy for it.
Copernicus challenged the prevailing geocentric view in the 16th century; Galileo's support for heliocentricism famously brought him into conflict with the Catholic Church.
