A helicopter pad is a flat, designated surface where helicopters land and take off.
Also called a helipad.
These can be permanent installations—on hospital roofs, offshore oil platforms, or military bases—or temporary markings in fields or parking lots: The medics rushed the patient from the helicopter pad to the emergency room.
