heli-skiing
Chopper-accessed mountain descents
Heli-skiing is skiing on remote, ungroomed slopes accessed by helicopter rather than ski lifts.
The helicopter drops skiers at high elevations for runs through pristine powder that would otherwise be unreachable: We booked a heli-skiing trip in British Columbia.
The sport combines backcountry skiing with the convenience of motorized transport, though at considerable expense.
