heat maps
Color-coded data displays
Heat maps are visual representations of data where values are encoded as colors, typically ranging from cool (blue) to hot (red).
They show intensity, density, or frequency across a surface: The heat map revealed users clicked mostly in the upper left corner.
Common in data analytics, web design, and geographic analysis to make patterns immediately visible.
Also written as one word: heatmap.
