heat exhaustion
Summer's dangerous fatigue
Heat exhaustion is a condition caused by prolonged exposure to high temperatures, especially when combined with physical exertion and inadequate hydration.
Symptoms include heavy sweating, weakness, cold and clammy skin, nausea, and dizziness.
It is less severe than heatstroke but can progress to it if untreated.
The runners were treated for heat exhaustion after the race.
The standard remedy is rest in a cool place with fluids and electrolytes.
