handfeeding
Spoon to mouth
Handfeeding is feeding an animal directly from your hand rather than from a dish or trough.
The practice builds trust between human and animal: The fawn was so tame it accepted handfeeding.
With birds, handfeeding often refers to raising chicks with formula using a syringe or spoon, bypassing the parent birds entirely.
The term extends to any situation where someone is given something directly rather than left to obtain it independently: The professor accused students of wanting to be handfed the answers.
