half-blood

One parent differs

Half-blood describes a person who shares only one parent with a sibling, or more broadly, someone of mixed ancestry.

In inheritance law, half-blood relatives have weaker claims than those of the whole blood.

The term gained modern currency through fantasy fiction, where it often designates someone with one magical and one non-magical parent: Harry Potter is a half-blood.
