nephilim
Scriptural giant race
Nephilim are mysterious beings mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, described as giants or mighty warriors who existed before the great flood.
Genesis says they were offspring of "sons of God" and "daughters of men," though interpretations vary wildly—fallen angels mating with humans, or simply a race of powerful ancients.
The term appears in fantasy fiction, video games, and occult discussions to describe hybrid beings or demigods: The nephilim in that novel are half-angel outcasts. (Capitalized Nephilim is the more common form.)
