hacktivists
Online protest coders
Hacktivists are people who use hacking and digital disruption for political or social causes.
The term blends "hacker" and "activist." Hacktivists might deface websites, leak documents, or launch cyberattacks against governments, corporations, or organizations they oppose: Anonymous hacktivists took down the company's servers in protest.
The line between hacktivist and cybercriminal depends largely on one's view of the cause.
