green iguana

Large arboreal lizard

A green iguana is a large herbivorous lizard native to Central and South America, commonly kept as a pet.

Despite the name, adults range from bright green to grayish or orange depending on age and region.

They can grow over five feet long, with distinctive spiny crests along their backs and dewlaps under their chins: The green iguana basked on a branch above the river.
